What are Derived Indices?



Derived Indices are indices that simulate market movement. Instead of tracking a real-world asset like a currency or a company share, each index moves according to a set volatility level, which means its behaviour is not driven by real-world news, earnings, or economic data. They are available 24/7 to trade, including weekends and public holidays.

On Deriv, you trade Derived Indices as CFDs, so you go long or short on price movements without owning an underlying asset.

How can I trade Derived Indices on Deriv?



It depends on the specific asset that you are trading.

Synthetic indices, except for Range Break Index, may not be well-suited for technical indicators. Since there is no order book, meaning that the price is not determined by the equilibrium of the highest bid and lowest offer, any noticeable historical patterns are purely coincidental. However, Range Break indices fluctuate between support and resistance levels before breaking out, so channel analysis and indicators may be effective.

Can I practise trading Derived Indices before using real money?


